Both Love Bug and Happy Times undergo continued and ongoing training in addition to their initial training. They work with their handlers in various situations and locations to ensure that they are prepared to meet new friends of all ability levels in any setting that is required of them. This preparation includes:

  • Monthly training exercises with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office working with officers, horses, and dogs for desensitization and reaction work. Training for chaotic, dangerous, loud, and crowded events and interactions.

  • Detailed logs are kept of past visits and their conditions.

  • Continual training at McNicholas Family Farm with their human handlers to maintain skills necessary for training interactions.
